Teancum and I went to the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge last week and didn't see any wildlife except birds, I think we were there at the wrong time of day. But, I did see coyote and elk footprints and there were a bunch of different hikes around little ponds and lakes. The refuge is only five miles from our house and there are plans to bike there in the future when we both have bikes.
We did one hike that was more like an easy stroll on a paved sidewalk around a big marsh. Oh and my mom called today to tell me about a story she read in the newspaper about a trumpeter swan that they have been watching at this refuge. Click on the link to read about him. It's a very cute story :)
Again, I have to apologize for the middle of the dayness of these pictures. I swear it really is pretty.
Cool twisty tree. At the base it was one big wavy trunk and then it looked like it split into three trees that connected again sometimes.
These were really cute little black birds (maybe ducks?) with red and yellow beaks.
Teancum eating the root of a cattail. Did you know you can eat this? It kind of tasted like a cucumber or something. I got stung by stinging nettle here so it was harder to enjoy :(
I like this picture.

Lookslike a beautiful location for your wilderness food storage. Cat nips? Naps? Nibbles?
Dude! Looks like you guys are enjoying all your fun time off! Sweet deal! You're house looks super cool! We are keeping our eyes out for cheap flights to Spokane... if you find any around 100 let us know!!
Sorry for the stinging nettle, I feel your pain. The thought reminds me of a bad experience when I was a little girl. Hope it heals up fast.
