Tum Tum Tum Tum

There are tons and tons of lakes and rivers around here. I found the first place I want to go kayaking.... maybe. It's called Williams Lake and is pretty close to our house.

We found another really pretty place. It's a city called Tum Tum and there's another huge lake there called Long Lake. Seriously long. Anyway, someone told us there was good rock climbing here so we set out to find it. I got the climbing book for this area and didn't read too much about it before we left. But, when we got there I read a few things that may have changed my mind about coming. A) It is well known for it's many ticks and B) It's always ten degrees hotter here than in Spokane. So of course we were there in the middle of the day and it was probably 100 degrees so I didn't feel like looking for climbing in a tick infested wooded area. Instead we drove down the road a bit and found this:

The water was perfect for the hot weather! But, we weren't prepared with swimming suits. There were lots of swimmers down the river and all over the lake.

It was also the perfect spot for a hammock, except it was still pretty hot.

On our drive back home we saw a huge sign for a renaissance festival that was ending that day so we stopped to see what it was like. I was hoping for the cool jousting while you eat dinner things that I've seen in other places. It was kind of like that...

Just with no food, more dust and some really bad acting.

Interesting anyway :)

So am I to believe that you keep your hammock with you at all times, just in case you find somewhere to hang it up? That is quite the life statement.

p.s. See you in a week!!!

Ha ha ha. I just never unpacked the trunk from when we moved. It was full of camping goodness which has turned out to be pretty convenient.

It looks beautiful. The heat would not be fun though. I think carrying a couple of hammocks in the trunk could make for some comfortable places to relax and enjoy the scenery.
I am sure glad you and Teancum can get out and enjoy your surroundings.

We miss you both.
